Creative / Curious / Collaborative

Designer, artist, writer and mushroom hunter. I value collaboration, curiosity and working hard for solutions that feel effortless. I create impactful, engaging and story-driven content that sparks engagement and spurs success. Integrity, teamwork and creative feedback play a vital part of my design process. My work focuses on branding, layout, UX/UI, motion and illustration.
When not at my desk, I’m foraging fungi of the wilds around Portland, Oregon, trying a new hot sauce or stretched out on the rug next to aforementioned desk recovering from aforementioned hot sauce. Currently anticipating a fungi-filled Fall of 2025.

Client Recommendations

“Noel Sherrard played a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of Lumio’s instructional resources. Over his four years on the team, he built the style guide that became the foundation for our content, ensuring a polished, high-quality experience for educators. Every published resource passed through his editorial expertise, and the templates he developed continue to support teachers and content creators today.

Beyond his individual contributions, Noel demonstrated the leadership and strategic thinking necessary to guide a design team. He set the standard for quality, consistency, and innovation in our instructional resources, took ownership of processes, maintained key design assets, and shaped the direction of our visual strategy. His influence extended beyond instructional content—he also contributed to Lumio’s marketing site, designed high-impact swag for events, and created thoughtful team gifts, always delivering with precision and creativity.

Noel combines deep technical expertise with a keen design sensibility and a proactive approach to leadership. He doesn’t just execute—he elevates. Any team looking for a designer who can lead by example, drive a creative vision, and deliver exceptional work would be fortunate to have him. I highly recommend him!”

“I had the privilege of working with Noel Sherrard during his four years at SMART, and his contributions as a graphic designer were regularly beyond expectations. Throughout his time on our team, he took full ownership of the design process for instructional resources, ensuring high-quality, accessible, and visually engaging content.

Noel streamlined design workflows, managed image creation and licensing, and even reduced costs through his strategic use of AI tools like Midjourney. In addition to his core responsibilities, Noel also had a hand in shaping Lumio’s broader visual strategy. He was instrumental in developing assets such as the 100+ stickers in Lumio’s gallery, animations for marketing, and improvements to UI elements like the widget menu and loading screens.

Beyond his design expertise, Noel stepped into a leadership role by mentoring colleagues, sharing best practices, and upholding design standards across our team and his work for other teams. He actively sought out opportunities to grow, refining and learning new skills to stay ahead of industry trends.

Noel’s impact was felt across the Lumio product, and his creativity, dedication, and can-do mindset made him a key contributor. Any organization would be lucky to have someone with his talent and diligence. I highly recommend Noel for any opportunity that values strong design leadership and innovation.”

“I have worked with Noel in a variety of capacities since 2013. In every project we have worked on together Noel has impressed me through his multi-layered, thoughtful, creative, and thorough work.

Noel is an excellent teaching artist and his students enjoy his classes, often claiming that he single handedly helped them begin making art or return to an art they loved through his careful, kind, and skilled teaching.

Noel recently partnered with my company, SilverKite Community Arts, to help us rebrand. As part of his work with us he redesigned our logo, created new graphic elements for our website, and developed collateral (newsletter, flyer, letterhead) templates. Noel did an exceptional job on this project by meeting his deadlines, listening and incorporating feedback from me and other company members, and crafting a graphic expression of our brand that truly does reflect our company and mission. His work on this project far exceeded my expectations and I was very impressed!

I will continue to hire Noel for our graphic design needs and as a teaching artist.”

—Jen Kulik, CEO at SilverKite Community Arts

“I highly recommend Noel Sherrard and plan to work with him in the future.

Noel provided excellent graphic design and compelling illustrations for a 48 page SPARC grant proposal for The Historic Colonnade Project at West Montlake Park, submitted to the Seattle Parks Foundation. The complex document included elevation and plan view drawings, charts and text for both online and print distribution. I was the team leader working directly with Noel on multiple revisions that incorporated feedback from the stakeholders: The Montlake Community Council, Seattle Yacht Club, Shelby/Hamlin Neighbors, and the Seattle Parks Department.

The proposal he created exceeded our expectations and was very well received by our project partners. In fact, his design was so effective in presenting the vision for the project that the partners requested additional copies for fundraising and public information, a testament to the quality, clarity and effectiveness of Noel’s design and artistic skills.

Noel works efficiently and consistently meets deadlines. He is a productive collaborator. His communication skills are superb and this large project benefited from his enthusiastic guidance. His creative ideas and energy kept the design on track.

I am pleased to add that Noel is a positive, ethical and engaged human.”

—Colleen Chartier, Project Lead for The Montlake Community Council

“We highly recommend Noel Sherrard. We are an environmental non-profit that contracted with Noel to design signage for a large, 1.6 acre community garden in Burien, WA. For this project, Noel created eleven unique signs with beautifully crafted, colorful pictures and descriptions of the various garden features. Noel is easy to work with, creative, talented, and has a great work ethic. We were very impressed with Noel's graphic design work, and were pleased to have worked with him on this project. We will definitely work with Noel again in the future.”

—Grace Stiller, President of Nature Stewards

“Noel was a great help to us at the New Start Community Garden as we designed our brand as a nonprofit. We worked together to design our new logo package, a garden map, and a large collection of interpretive signs for our garden. Noel was able to be flexible, patient, and creative as we worked through the design process for each sign and multiple styles of art work. We were able to work remotely with him during the complications of a COVID-19 pandemic and come up with great designs that really speak to our students, visitors, and supporters. Noel was very responsive to our feedback and communicated very well throughout our more than a year of work together. We will certainly continue to work with him going forward.”
